In response to many inquiries about how to help the pets affected by Joplin's tornado, we have collected and organized some timely information from the authorities managing the pet rescue efforts to share.
At this time, your help is needed outside Joplin - that is, to collect and deliver necessary goods to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri. There, they can accomodate volunteers and manage their inventories of supplies.
Towels, blankets, bleach, paper towels, toys, kitty litter, canned dog food and money to purchase supplies
Any quantity of items is needed and very appreciated.
The ASPCA and Humane Society of Missouri are managing the rescue efforts in Joplin. They have dispatched disaster response teams that can handle all levels of triage and transport in such dangerous surroundings.
The Humane Society of SW Missouri in Springfield can only accommodate trained/existing HS SWMO volunteers at this time. They also please ask that only trained volunteers, those wishing to make a donation and/or those interested in adoption visit their facility due to the extensive rescue preparations underway.
At the top of this message, you can find sharing options such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and of course, Email to a Friend. Will you please share this with your friends, families, coworkers and any others who would like to help the animals in need?
Your kindness and generosity throughout the coming weeks is so vital in making a great difference in the lives of animals and people.
